Liquid Petroleum Measurement Courses:

Courses Titles:

  • Static and Dynamic Measurements
  • Custody Transfer Measurements
  • Advanced Training Course In Custody Transfer Measurements
  • Advanced Training Course In Metering System and Statistical Aspects
  • LNG & Marine Transport Measurements
  • Tanks Calibration

The objective of these courses is to provide delegates with the necessary knowledge to inspect and ensure that the Weights and Measures legislative requirements are met according to the International accepted Standards (API & ASTM)

We would like to summarize the factors affecting the accuracy of bulk liquid quantities measurements in land tanks and ships' tanks, which is of great importance to companies that produce, transport and store petroleum products. Following point will enable personnel participating in the measurements to improve their capabilities to achieve high standards of measurement accuracy meanwhile it will have its direct impact to loss control.

  1. Error on Shore / ship’s Tanks calibration
  2. Error in measuring of oil level, Temperature and drawing of samples.
  3. Use of Improper equipment & Improper use of equipment
  4. Wrong Calculations (Error in extracting volumes/or VCF from tables/Steel Expansion).
  5. Error in Samples analysis.
  6. Leaking Valves, Oil spill, evaporation, Fire and Theft.
  7. Human Errors.
  8. Weather Condition.
  9. Other Fraudulent activity.
  10. Volumetric Shrinkage.

The course builds on the fundamentals along with over 35 years of field experience in measurement and laboratories. The course introduces additional troubleshooting and problem solving skills and analysis, system performance analysis; advanced loss control and analysis techniques and advanced dynamic metering systems for volume measurement. It also builds on displacement prover’s knowledge by detailing the calibration of provers. The course also covers the Advanced Electronic Flow Computers and Automatic Tank gauging Systems (ATGs). The course uses the API Manual of Petroleum Measurement Standards and the ASTM Test Methods as the basis for instruction. Participants receive classroom instruction and exercises, field exercises, demonstrations, and handouts.
